This week, Yu-Gi-Oh!Duel Links sees the return of Yami Bakura in Duel World, the release of the new 'Chaotic Compliance' booster pack, and a week-long 1.5x bonus experience event.
If you're looking to grind through some levels, now is the time to do it. If you need a little extra help making the most of this week's event, here are some of the best ways you can level your characters fast and get more rewards while it's still happening.
Don't Surrender
This is the best advice any Duel Links player can give. No matter how badly you're losing, no matter how it makes you feel, do not give up the duel. If you lose you still get experience -- just less than what you would have if you won. But if you surrender you get absolutely no experience.
Remember: Yugi only ever surrendered twice. Both times in duels which he could have won easily. Don't be like Yugi; take the loss and try again when you feel more confident.
Duel the Vagabond
The Vagabond is a great resource for farming experience. Not only does he provide a hefty amount, but he also provides extra challenge for those who feel the Legendary Duelists and other characters in Duel World just aren't cutting it.
Make sure to always challenge your friends when he asks you to so you can duel against him more times per day. (As long as some of your friends send a challenge back, of course.)
Gather Keys
Keys allows you to duel Legendary Duelists at the Duel Gate, and can be won from winning duels. Keys are also often found lying on the ground for you to pick up. Make sure to pick up any exclamation point you see on the ground so you can amass a number of differently colored keys. It's always better to have too many keys than not have enough.
Duel The Strongest Version of Each Duelist
Depending on your stage level, the strongest duelists available at the gate may be level 30, 40, or 50. Always make sure to play against the highest level duelists you can, whether that be through the gate or Duel World.
If you're having trouble, it's probably a good idea to bump down to the next strongest version of that duelist until you feel confident enough to take on the highest level version.
With Yami Bakura making a return, alongside The Vagabond and plenty of other characters you can play against, this week's event is a great chance to level up (and maybe even max out) some of your characters. The bonus experience will also be able to help you obtain character rewards -- like gems, deck boxes, and exclusive cards -- much faster.
This may be the only bonus experience event we'll see for a while, so make sure to rack up plenty of points this week. And if you need help facing down the returning enemy during this 1.5x EXP weekend, we've got a guide to beating Yami Bakura to help you out!
HomeGame GuidesYu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links: How to Get More Cards and Gems
Welcome back Duelists! As you probably know by now, believing in the heart of the cards is the number one step to victory, and to do that you’ll need some awesome cards! We’re here with a guide on how to get more cards and gems in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links. Of course you’ll need some gems to shop with, so we have some pointers on getting those too.
Like most mobile collectible card games, a lot of getting the cards you want has to do with luck. There are other methods of gaining cards of course, which is what we’ll go over in this guide. Let’s get started with our guide on how to get more cards and gems in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links!
1. Level up character decks!
When you use individual character decks, all experience earned goes into that deck. Sometimes when you level up a character unique deck, you’ll earn precious gems, and sometimes you’ll get cards out of it too. This is one of the easiest ways to get new cards and gems at the same time, so make sure to try out all of the character decks – don’t just stick to using one character! Just remember that each character has prerequisites that you’ll need to fulfill before you unlock them.
2. Score high on the Duel Assessment!
At the end of every duel, you’ll be graded on your performance. Certain actions you take during a duel will add points to your total score, and you’ll earn rewards at the end! For every 1000 points you score, you’ll get to open a chest. Chests sometimes have new cards and gems inside them, so it’s important that you do your best! Here’s a couple of conditions we’ve discovered:
- Simply winning a duel nets you 2000 points.
- Taking no damage to you LP is worth 500 points.
- Activating spell cards are 100 points each.
- Tribute summoning higher level monsters is worth 300 points.
Of course there are more conditions to discover, so play your best!
3. Check out the card trader!
The Card Trader shows up once you reach Stage 7. He sells a variety of cards ranging from normal cards to ultra rare ones! However, if you want to buy cards better than normal rarity, you’ll need items in addition to the gold. You can get items by converting old cards you don’t use anymore. The main items you’ll need for trading are the elemental stones. The stones you’ll get match the element of the monster you’re converting. For example, converting the light-type Wattkid will get you a Stone of Light.
The Card Trader is probably the only surefire way to get specific cards, but just be ready to work for it – you’ll need a lot of elemental stones to get the best cards!
4. Check the possible rewards!
If you’re hunting after a specific card, it might be helpful to check the possible drops. When dueling legendary duelists in the gate, you can tap on the “Lv. ? Victory Rewards” button at the bottom of the screen. Here you’ll see a list of possible card drops from winning the duel. The higher the level of your opponent, the better the rewards will be.
5. Shop around!
Of course, you can always visit the Card Shop to buy packs using your hard-earned gems. Card packs have three cards inside them and you can either buy one pack for 50 gems or 10 packs for 500 gems. Unfortunately there is no “buy 10 get 1 free” deal here like other card games, so it’s up to you which options to go for. The current lineup you see doesn’t last forever, so make sure to buy packs if you see cards you like.
That’s all for our guide on how to get more cards in Duel Links. If you have any other tips or tricks to share, let us know in the comments below!
As you begin playing, keep the following tips in mind to improve your performance in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links.
Quiz Master[edit]
You should make every effort to complete at least the 1-star Duel Quizzes, since they offer some nice rewards. When you complete 1-6, you access the Block Attack card. Complete 1-7 to receive Banner of Courage card. And 1-11 nets you the Remove Trap card. These are particularly useful cards, so you should make sure to snag them once the game lets you, the better to face more difficult opponents down the road.
Ultra Rare Cards Are Precious[edit]
If you participate in the launch celebration event, your reward is a set of three Ultra Rare cards in a gift box. They are: Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Since they are at level 7 and 8, you can use them to perform tribute summons. Build decks around them and you can really dominate. Just be careful about relying too much on them. A couple of Ultra Rare cards in a deck is likely sufficient.
You'll know if you got an Ultra Rare or Super Rare card in a card pack if you see multiple Kuriboh pop up on your screen after you've purchased the pack.
A Defensive Mind[edit]
If you have a monster that you can place in a defense position to soak up the damage your opponent is dealing (this works particularly well when your monster has a high DEF stat), that can really turn the tide of battle. Remember that even when a monster in a defensive position is defeated, your LP won't take damage. Definitely pay attention not only to the attack opportunities, but also to defensive windows.
Deck Building[edit]
Build your decks carefully, keeping a few of the following tips in mind:
- Always keep a few spell cards handy, ideally with an assortment of offensive, buff, and utility spells. The last group requires specific timing, but you can really turn the tide of battle.
- Trap cards work in very specific situations, so make sure to have some handy if you'll be facing opponents against whom such cards are beneficial.
- Keep a lot of 1-4 star monsters at hand, so that you have time to allow a few stronger monsters to find their ground and participate in battles near the end. It's better to have a few weaker monsters that you can easily summon than to build a team consisting primarily of powerful monsters that you can't afford to summon when things come down to the wire.
- Sometimes a smaller deck is better. Keep your cards focused and don't overload it with cards that don't play to your strategy.
- Don't forget to set skills for your deck once you have it unlocked. Each duelist's skill is different, so make sure you have at least one deck that makes the most of that skill.
Spend Gems Wisely
[edit]
Ever card pack may be the same price, but the cards they offer are valued far differently. Make sure you look through the possible cards you can get from the various boxs before investing your gems so that you're getting cards that match your playstyle.
PVP Arena[edit]
Yugioh Duel Links Level Up Fast Food
Going online is fun, but it can be frustrating if you're not prepared for the other duelists waiting to battle.
- Make sure you've built your deck beyond what you were given at the beginning of the game. This will give you an advantage against players who use that beginners deck and help withstand duelists with custom decks.
- Try ranked duels to be better matched against duelists at your level.
